Friends of HSI recently sponsored a portion of an onsite spay and neuter wellness clinic organized by the Canadian Animal Task Force in Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation in Alberta. CATF is a non-profit organization that offers veterinary services in remote Indigenous communities in Alberta where access to these services is lacking or absent.
Over the course of three days, 250 animals were examined, vaccinated, treated for parasites and sterilized. A total of 113 animals were also placed for rehoming with partner organizations. The work of CATF in Indigenous communities also includes consulting and training on bylaws, education on animal welfare and safety, a pet food program and more! These clinics contribute tremendously to animal welfare and help public safety.
We are proud to have participated in this event and hope to continue to support CATF in the future.
