In late September, 45 dogs were transported to our Care and Rehabilitation Centre near Montreal, Québec. They were saved from a horrible fate, found tied up in a truck, destined for the dog meat trade in Indonesia.
Before arriving to Canada, as is protocol for our rescue missions, the 45 dogs were vaccinated against rabies and were quarantined in Indonesia. Upon their arrival, they were also quarantined, examined and tested by a dedicated medical team at our Care and Rehabilitation Centre.
While these dogs faced the worst fate in Indonesia, their rescue is living proof that it is necessary and possible to allow responsible importation of dogs into Canada without compromising public safety.
